This delightful story is set in the glorious Forest of Dean, where sheep have long had the right to roam wherever they want! But even sheep should follow the rules of the railway…

Mr Thistle's Whistle

Meet Mr Thistle, a rather nervous chap who takes his responsibilities as guard on the Forest Railway very seriously. How will he keep the trains running smoothly when a sudden fright leads him to lose his all-important whistle?

This light-hearted tale touches on the tradition of brass bands in the Forest of Dean, which were and occasionally still are a regular fixture at many  community events throughout the area. Join Mr Thistle on a journey through sound as he swaps his trusty whistle for some other, more interesting instruments…

Meet The Twitchers

"Hopefully we'll spot a Wynott!"

 

What starts out as an ordinary day for DMU takes an unexpected twist at the Town station, where a curious family are waiting for a ride up into the Forest. The Twitcher family are on the hunt!

 

The Forest of Dean is a haven for bird life of many sorts and the Twitchers are out to spot and photograph as many as they can. But will they see a Wynott, a fabled local species?

 

DMU doesn't think so - he's never heard of a Wynott - but we join him and the Twitchers as they travel up the line on their quest. And might someone be in for a surprise?

It’s Halloween and everyone on the Forest Railway is busy preparing for the special Ghost Train. Dai Llama’s record-breaking pumpkin is the talk of the town but Gladys, the diesel engine, thinks it’s all hearsay. That is, until she comes face-to-face with it…
